The Kamokuna ocean entry has grown to a kilometer in length as lava from Kilauea’s Pu‘u ‘O‘o vent continues to pour over the coastline.

Since last week, lava has almost completely filled in the gap between the original ocean entries, helping to merge what was two separate lava deltas along the coast inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

The flow, known as 61G, started May 24.

It entered the ocean July 26 after traveling 6.7 miles.
